15TH EUROPEAN PUBLIC HEALTH CONFERENCE
9 – 12 NOVEMBER 2022

STRENGTHENING HEALTH SYSTEMS: IMPROVING POPULATION HEALTH AND BEING PREPARED FOR THE UNEXPECTED

PLENARY SESSION: CAN PEOPLE AFFORD

TO PAY FOR HEALTH CARE?

Governments have repeatedly affirmed their commitment to meeting the goals of universal health coverage (UHC) – to ensure that everyone can use the health services they need without experiencing financial hardship. Research from the WHO Regional Office for Europe shows that: gaps in health coverage lead to unmet need for health care and financial hardship among people using health services. These negative outcomes are heavily concentrated among people in poverty and those with multiple chronic conditions. Countries can reduce unmet need and financial hardship by re-designing coverage policy. This session aims to raise awareness about the most prevalent gaps in coverage in European health systems, the policies that cause them and what countries can do to address them. It will draw on findings from the WHO study ‘Can people afford to pay for health care? New evidence on financial protection in Europe’. Theme and invited speakers guarantee an inspiring session that you do not want to miss. Date: Thursday 10 November: 13:50 – 14:50 CET. Organized by WHO Regional Office for Europe.

Registration opens 1 April 2022. Registration fees will be announced shortly on our website. You can benefit from early bird registration fees until 1 September. Reduction is offered to EUPHA members, colleagues from Germany and students. Grants are available for colleagues from low and middle income countries. We are expecting over 1,500 delegates. Meet your colleagues at the largest annual public health event in Europe.

PANDEMIC PREPAREDNESS

With the steady return to ‘normal’ life across Europe, we are increasingly confident that we can actually host an in person conference in November. Many countries in Europe are ending their COVID-19 restrictions and Germany is following later this month. We will, of course, continue to monitor developments in Berlin closely and will adjust our planning if necessary. Current measures in Berlin can be followed in detail on the websites of VisitBerlin and the State of Berlin.

CONFERENCE VENUE HUB27 BERLIN

The 15th EPH Conference will be held in the hub27 Berlin, part of MesseBerlin. Hub27 is the most modern, multifunctional conference centre in Germany. It is easily accessed by S-Bahn and U-Bahn from all parts of Berlin. You can reach Berlin by long-distance high-speed trains from everywhere in Europe. Flights arrive at and depart from the new Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BER), 20 km from the city centre.
